Boston Lyric Opera

Boston Lyric Opera New England (BLO) is an opera company in Boston, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1976. Its home base is the Shubert Theater in Boston.
It stages three to four productions a year with promising young singers, directors, conductors and designers.
The BLO attracts a public of some forty thousand people a year with the notable exception of 2002. On September 20-21 of that year, about one hundred forty thousand people attended two free performances of Carmen on Boston Common.
