CHBX-TV

CHBX (also commonly known as CTV Northern Ontario) is a Canadian television station, broadcasting in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. It is affiliated with CTV. The station's signal also reaches the eastern portion of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
CHBX is essentially a semi-satellite of CICI in Sudbury. It airs the same programming as CICI at all times, except some commercials and regional segments on the news.
The station first aired in 1978 as CKCY-TV. It was owned by Huron Broadcasting along with CBC affiliate CJIC-TV, and was a sister station of an AM radio outlet with the same call letters. It adopted the current CHBX call sign in 1986, when the radio station was sold to Mid-Canada Radio.
In 1990, Huron sold CHBX and its CBC twinstick CJIC to Baton Broadcasting, which merged them into the MCTV system. Baton became the sole corporate owner of CTV in 1997, and sold CJIC to the CBC in 2002.
CHBX also broadcasts on channel 7 in Wawa.Template:Canada-bcast-stub Template:Northern Michigan TV
