CNC Software/Mastercam

From Free net encyclopedia

CNC Software/Mastercam was one of the first companies to introduce PC based CAD/CAM software. The company was founded in Massachusetts in 1984 and currently resides in Tolland, Connecticut. Its Mastercam software is the most popular CAM program suite on the market today.

Available Modules:

  • Lathe Entry
  • Lathe w/Multi-Axis
  • Mill Entry
  • Mill Level 1 (2.5D)
  • Mill Level 2 (3D)
  • Mill Level 3 (5 axis)
  • Mill Level 3 w/Multi-Axis
  • Wire EDM
  • Router Entry
  • Router Plus
  • Router Pro
  • Router Pro w/Multi-Axis
  • Solids (add-on)
  • Design

The Router modules are marketed towards the woodworking industries but are virtually identical to the Mill line.

Customers can purchase each feature al-la-carte style. For example, a customer requiring 5-axis milling but only simple two-axis turning would purchase Mill Level 3 and Lathe Entry. If he or she needed the additional capabilities of multiaxis turning, it is possible to upgrade the Lathe module with no price penalty.
