COMSIXTHFLT (Commander, Sixth Fleet), forward deployed on USS Mount Whitney (LCC-20) and previously on USS La Salle (AGF-3) in Gaeta, Italy, is the numbered fleet commander for the Mediterranean area of operations. Vice Admiral Scott Fry is the current COMSIXTHFLT, having taken over from Vice Admiral Johnson. When the battle groups deploy to the Mediterranean they inchop to Sixthfleet. When they pass through the Suez canal they inchop to Fifth Fleet. Prior to entering the Med they work for Second Fleet.Template:USN-stub
