Cate Edwards

Catharine Elizabeth "Cate" Edwards (born 4 March 1982) is the oldest daughter of John Edwards, the Democratic Party's 2004 nominee for Vice President.

Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, where her parents were both practicing attorneys, Edwards attended public schools in Wake County, including Aldert Root Elementary School, Daniels Middle School, and finally Broughton High School, where she graduated at the top of her class. In high school, she played soccer, basketball and softball; she was named all-conference and MVP her senior year.

Edwards then attended Princeton University, majoring in Political Economics graduating with honors. She is a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and has worked in internships for the Council on Foreign Relations. Cate campaigned with her father actively on his unsuccessful campaign for the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination. Cate now lives in New York City where she works as an editorial assistant for Vanity Fair magazine.
