Centre-left

From Free net encyclopedia

In politics, the term centre-left is commonly used to describe and denote political parties or organisations that stretch from the centre to the left or are moderately left-wing, as opposed to 'extreme' left wing beliefs such as communism. The centre-left roughly comprises European social democrats, some democratic socialists, progressive liberals, greens and reformist Marxists. Centre Left supporters accept the capitalist market economy but advocate a mixed economy with a significant public sector and a thriving private sector. Centre Left policies tend to favour limited state intervention in the economy in matters pertaining to the public interest.

Also, the Centre Left often favours moderate environmentalist policies.
