Channel m is a Manchester based television station.
It is the first television channel exclusively for Greater Manchester. It began broadcasting 14th February 2000.
It is available in analogue free to air on channel 39 (615 MHz) in the west and southern areas of Greater Manchester, and on digital NTL cable channel 26 around Greater Manchester. In April 2006, it became the first RSL TV station to broadcast via satellite and is available on Sky Digital on channel 203.
The main sources of content are CHUM, Euronews, Channel m itself and the University of Salford.
It currently broadcasts from Urbis in Manchester City Centre, although until August 2005 it broadcast from The Printworks entertainment complex in Manchester City Centre.
Other television headquarters in Manchester include the ITV North West England (Granada Television) base and the BBC Northern England HQ.
Channel m is owned by the Guardian Media Group.
In 2005, the channel won the "Best Newcomer" award at the Royal Television Society Awards.
