Image:MainStreetChatfieldMNdusk.jpg Chatfield is a city located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,394. The city is located on the border of Fillmore and Olmsted Counties, with almost equal parts in both counties. It has a sheet music lending library, possibly the only one in the world.

Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there were 2,394 people, 930 households, and 633 families residing in the city. The population density was 464.5/km² (1,201.8/mi²). There were 959 housing units at an average density of 186.1/km² (481.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.66% White, 0.46% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.25% Asian (also known as "Cory"), 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 0.29% from two or more races. 0.92% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 930 households out of which 35.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.3% were married couples living together, 9.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.9% were non-families. 27.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 3.00.
In the city the population was spread out with 26.0% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 17.2% from 45 to 64, and 20.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 88.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.6 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $44,023, and the median income for a family was $53,625. Males had a median income of $32,174 versus $27,697 for females. The per capita income for the city was $20,145. 6.5% of the population and 4.9% of families were below the poverty line. 6.8% of those under the age of 18 and 12.2% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.io:Chatfield, Minnesota
