Chefornak is a city located in Bethel Census Area, Alaska. As of the 2000 census, the population of the city is 394.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 16.8 km² (6.5 mi²). 14.8 km² (5.7 mi²) of it is land and 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 11.71% water.
Demographics
As of the 2000 census, there were 394 people, 75 households, and 63 families residing in the city. The population density was 26.5/km² (68.8/mi²). There were 82 housing units at an average density of 5.5/km² (14.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 2.03% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 93.40% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 4.57% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 75 households out of which 60.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.3% were married couples living together, 13.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.0% were non-families. 14.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 0.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 5.25 and the average family size was 5.98.
In the city the population was spread out with 45.2% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 23.9% from 25 to 44, 16.5% from 45 to 64, and 4.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 21 years. For every 100 females there were 106.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 113.9 males.
