Chtenopteryx is a genus of small, muscular, midwater squids and is the only genus in the family Chtenopterygidae. Three species are presently recognized in the genus, but more are believed to exist.
These squids occupy tropical to subtropical waters probably at depths of 500-1000 m during the day and near-surface waters at night.
