Clli code

From Free net encyclopedia

CLLI Code - (Common Language Location Identifier Code) - Used within the Telecommunications industry to identify a specific physical location and piece of telco switching equipment. This is always an 11 character alphanumeric code, maintained by Telcordia. Take for example the real life example - ABLNTXOR15T. The first four characters are an abbreviation for the city of Abilene, the fifth and sixth are for the state of Texas, the seventh and eighth are a location within Abilene (in this case Orchard). The last three characters are unique for the specific item in question at that location. CLLI Codes are useful to telephone companies for ordering phone service, for billing of call detail records, and to assist in tracing calls. CLLI Codes have Vertical and Horizontal Coordinates which are associated with them, which allows telephone companies to calculate reasonably accurate distances using right triangle calculations instead of using globe geometry.
