The city of Coevorden
Coevorden received city rights in 1408.
Two cities and a large island (and more) in North America, called Vancouver, have been named after George Vancouver, whose family name may have been derived from 'Van Coevorden', meaning 'from Coevorden', however this is still a hotly disputed topic based solely on the unproven and speculated theories of Mr. Adrien Mansfeld, hence the locations mentioned were indirectly named after this city.
