Image:Comino tower.jpgComino (Kemmuna) is an island of the Maltese archipelago between the islands of Malta and Gozo in the Mediterranean Sea, measuring only 2 sq. km in area with a permanent population of only 4 residents. A hotel with private beach was built on Comino in order to attract tourists seeking the quiet and isolation Comino offers.

Comino is the home of the Blue and Crystal Lagoons to which many tourists visit each year thanks to numerous boat tours operated on Malta and Gozo. The Blue Lagoon is best known for its transparent, cyan waters and marine life that make it popular with divers, snorklers and swimmers.

St. Mary's Tower, built by the Knights Hospitaller in 1618, still remains on the south-east side of the island, looking towards the ferry port at Ċirkewwa. These towers were installed in every 1km of coastline to act as an early warning system in case of invasion. Today, St. Mary's tower provides a destination for tourists taking walks around Comino.
