Corneal endothelium is the inner most layer of the cornea, the corneal endothelium is a monolayer of squamous epithelial cells lining the anterior chamber of the eye. Loss of the corneal endothelium is the leading cause of corneal transplant failures.
The corneal endothelium engages in fluid transport, and is responsible for the hydration of the cornea. Template:Eye-stub
