Cotes

Cotes may also refer to Roger Cotes, colleague of Sir Isaac Newton

Cotes is a small hamlet near the town of Loughborough in Leicestershire, England.

It lies on the River Soar, and Cotes Bridge provides the main bridging point in that area. The A60 Trunk Road goes over Cotes Bridge on its way out of Loughborough towards Nottingham.

The medieval village of Cotes was abandoned, presumably due to Plague, although a hall remained at Cotes for some time.

During the English Civil War there was a battle at Cotes Bridge.Template:Leicestershire-geo-stub
