Cybernetics (disambiguation)
From Free net encyclopedia
Cybernetics may refer to more than one thing:
- Cybernetics is a theory of the communication and control based on regulatory feedback. If a system has a goal, cybernetics is the science of understanding it. Most other "definitions of cybernetics" are erroneous and derived from literary misappropriations or misunderstandings of the scope and purpose of the original, scientific field.
- Erroneously used as a synonym for robotics. Cybernetics may inform robotic design, because robots require feedback to achieve goals; however, robotics is to cybernetics as planetary orbits are to cosmology.
- Improperly used to refer to the study of cyborgs and robotic implants and prosthetics.
- Cybernetics is also a Swedish customer relationship management company, based in Solna, Stockholm. It was founded in 1975 and provides software and consulting services.
