In Dilbert, bit characters or characters that are limited appearanced to less than 5 strips, (except Ruebert). There are many of them, from most popular, to Wally-types, to the many faces of Ted.

Here are some of the most popular bits.

Contents

Most Popular

Techno-Bill

A technology advanced co-worker that appeared in 1991. He is the only exception to Dilbert's advancements of electronic tools. He beats Dilbert at a "Engineer Duel"(2 Engineers fight using technology) with automatic dialing. He is the most popular.

Bingo

Dogbert's former friend, current arch-rival. When the animated series started, Scott Adams was asked if he can create a villain, so he made nine never-seen-in-paper strips. However, it was work-oriented cartoon, so Scott never brought those strips out.

In the first strip, Ratbert asks Dogbert about when he and Dilbert met. He says he had a friend named Bingo until a teenaged Dilbert adopted him because both looked similar. Bingo went to a cow farm.

Bingo created an army of very stupid cows that kidnapped Dogbert. Using caller ID and Ruebert the robot, they rescue Dogbert. But Bingo threatens by using the "Black Udder", which was cursing global warming while eating a burrito. To see the strips, here's the section of Dilbert's website, [1].

Zimbu

Zimbu is a monkey that was trained at the zoo and became a valuable engineer. However, his tail and the fact that he mocks Dilbert made him someone Dilbert never liked.

In the TV Show, Zimbu appeared along with Obvious Man and Ted to assist Wally in beating the Y2K bug.

Ruebert

Ruebert was a robot Dilbert threw away, but which his garbageman rebooted. It taunted and irritated Dilbert because it did not have the Robot's Code.

Dogbert put a shame module into his system and turned him into a worrying, guilt-ridden machine.

He then created a female robot that dumped him immediately. Ruebert would return in the Origin strips.

Cyrus the Virus

Cyrus is a man who attacks and replaces members of a company with old goons. He demotes PHB to engineer for a while until he is eliminated and the old boss is promoted back.

Mother Nature

Mother Nature killed Dilbert in 1990 by using him as an unorthodox example as punishment for littering. Dilbert was revived a month later by his invention and his garbage.

She is shown with her cruel side (insults with a silver tongue).

Captain Bob

Captain Bob is a cannibal who eats people by crashing into a mountain repeatedly. Bob tricks people into being whacked by a tenderizer and uses Worcestershire sauce all over their bodies. The people, even Dilbert, are saved when Dogbert hits his face with a snowball causing his ovoid shape roll down the mountain.

Mr. Goodenrich

The main boss who speaks the horrible truth with a smile (very bad).

ANtina

A female created as the Antidote to Tina the Brittle Co-Worker. She didn't act, look like, nor was even shaped like a woman. People thought Adams was referring to lesbians, but he never wanted to keep her. She isn't popular, just negatively known.

Dates

Dilbert has many dating problems so he goes on blind dates. Among those he dated ...

  • A dog
  • A two-headed telepath
  • A woman with "puppetitis"
  • A large woman he called Jabba the Hutt
  • A supermodel that didn't eat so she was a skeleton
  • A witch
  • The lady at the library reference desk

His failure is similar to Jon Arbuckle in Garfield.

Wally clones

Adams in the beginning used people that looked like Wally. Many of them are...

  • Lez-A stunted man with a short-temper from New York City
  • Norman-A victim to a woman with a large nose by being "snorted"
  • Bud-A worker who acted like he was there for many years, but only was here a week before he changed

Ted

Also used was a man called Ted. Adams at first wanted him to be a regular, but he created clones that were called...

  • Ted
  • Ed
  • Nervous Ed
  • "New Guy"
  • Lost Employee, simlar to one in a Friends episode about a man who others at his workplace thought never existed,(even when he yells) even though he worked there for 20+ years

Loud Howard

A man who only appeared once with Wally trying to buy Dilbert's soul in exchange for not having him as a co-worker.

He becomes a regular in the TV show with his large mouth as a trademark.

Bank of Ethel

At the beginning, Dilbert had his money at the Bank of Ethel, a place that has lewd acts, steals money, charges a lot, and is evil. Bit bankers appear as a woman with glasses who never cares about people, like the bank itself. Somehow, Dilbert got common sense and finally stopped doing anything there.

The bank appeared occasionally, so it had a bit spot.

Misc.

There are many others that were created and are known, like...

  • Noriko-A young girl that looked like one of Adam's girlfriends when she was in kindergarten
  • Uncle Ned-A relative that shoots everything and posts as trophies, (even his neighbors!)
  • Bullysaurus-The bully to Bob.
  • Floyd Remora-A weird man with a trumphet-like mouth who lives by sharing success while contribuing nothing. Similar to a leech.
  • Another Floyd-A man who takes his anger out on everyone. Becomes one of many accidental victims to Dilbert.
