Dulles is an unincorporated Census-Designated Place located in Loudoun County, Virginia, part of the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area. The headquarters of America Online, Orbital Sciences Corporation, and MCI are located in Dulles. Dulles covers roughly the southwestern, unincorporated third of Sterling; the United States Postal Service defines Dulles as an alternate city name for the 20166 zip code primarily designated Sterling.

Washington Dulles International Airport is located partially in Dulles (though its postal address uses the Sterling name instead) and partially in Chantilly in Fairfax County. The community derived its name from the airport; the airport in turn takes its name from former United States Secretary of State John Foster Dulles (1888-1959).
