Eise Eisinga
From Free net encyclopedia
Eise Eisinga (February 21 1744 – August 27 1828) was a Dutch woolcomber and amateur astronomer.
He was born in the Frisian village Dronrijp. Between 1774 and 1781 he built an orrery in his house in Franeker, Netherlands, to demonstrate to the townspeople that a local clergyman's prediction of a planetary collision was untrue. The house is still standing today, and is known as the Eise Eisinga Planetarium.
He also wrote a few books.
