Extractor hood

From Free net encyclopedia

An extractor hood, also known as a kitchen hood, stove hood, or exhaust hood, is a device containing a fan that hangs above the stove in the kitchen. It is used to filter steam from cooking and remove certain particles in it. The remainder is preferably vented out of the house via an exhaust pipe, although it may simply be let back into the room, often after passing through carbon filters.

An exhaust hood is used to vent excess moisture from the kitchen, as well as objectionable food odors, smoke from burned foods, and combustion products from gas stoves. Often, the exhaust hood also features stove lighting to illuminate the stovetop.
