The Exxon Building (formerly the Humble Building) was built in 1963 in Houston, Texas, USA. At that time it was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River at 606 feet (185 m), beating the Smith Tower in Seattle, Washington (the previous record holder) by 132 feet. It only remained the tallest building west of the Mississippi until 1965, when Elm Place was built in Dallas, Texas.
