Ferdinand Buisson

Ferdinand Édouard Buisson (December 20, 1841February 16, 1932) was a French academic, educational bureaucrat, Protestant pastor, pacifist and Socialist politician.

Buisson helped create France's system of universal, secular primary education in the 1880's, and was also involved prominently in many pacifist organizations, notably des Droits de l'Homme (League for Human Rights).

He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1927.
