Template:Wiktionary Filipino is a term that originally referred to the Spanish population who were born and settled in the Philippines. [1] During the nationalist movements of the late 19th century and after the revolt and independence from Spain in 1898, it came to refer to the general population.

Filipino, or Pilipino, can also refer to:

  • From or related to the Philippines
    • Synonym: Philippine is also used as a qualifier in certain instances.
  • The Filipino language, which is heavily based on Tagalog
  • The Filipino people, native inhabitants and citizens of the Republic of the Philippines
  • Filipinos, in the plural, refers to cookies which are manufactured by Artiach and Nabisco in Spain. Note: Nabisco sold out to United Biscuits Iberia which is owned by United Biscuits UK.
