Fire Star is also the name of Mars in Chinese and Japanese.

Template:Superherobox Firestar (Angelica Jones) is a fictional character, a mutant superhero in Marvel Comics' universe. She has the ability to generate and manipulate microwave radiation, which allows her to generate intense heat and flames and to fly. She has been a member of the New Warriors and The Avengers.

The character was originally created for the animated series Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends (where Kathy Garver provided her voice) as a replacement for the Human Torch, the rights to which were tied up in a possible movie venture. Firestar is identified as being a former member of the X-Men, along with Iceman, with whom she appears to have a romantic relationship. Image:Firestarissue3.jpg Later, Firestar appeared in comic books as well, beginning with Uncanny X-Men #193. Although she was initially a pawn of the X-Men's enemies, she quickly became a superhero in her own right. After a miniseries of her own, the character faded into obscurity until she became a founding member of the New Warriors. There, she became engaged to fellow teammate Vance Astrovik (aka Justice, formerly Marvel Boy); later, she discovered that her radiation powers were rendering her unable to have children.

Firestar and Justice later joined the Avengers for a time; during this period, Henry Pym determined the cause of her sterility was due to the fact that the natural immunity to the effects of her own powers, which all mutants possess, had never fully developed, so he designed a costume for her that would siphon off the excess radiation and give her natural immunity the opportunity to manifest fully. She and Justice later left and resurfaced alongside the New Warriors. Angelica began to attend college and was enjoying a "normal life", and began to shirk her responsibilties to Vance in regards to their wedding, missing appointments with their priest, and not helping with any wedding descisions. Vance confronted Angelica about this, Angelica declaring that she wasn't ready to be a wife, and Vance angrily flew off and ended their engagement.

Firestar is one of the few mutants left on the planet with her powers intact, after the Scarlet Witch changed reality at the end of the House of M series
