Flow

The word flow has several different meanings:
- In fluid mechanics, the word flow is often used to mean a complete description of the motion of a fluid. See also rate of fluid flow.
- Flow (mathematics) refers to the one-dimensional (continuous, differentiable) action of a group, usually arising in the solution of differential equations. Examples include geodesic flow, Hamiltonian flow and Anosov flow.
- In physics, flow is another name for "flux", which is the rate at which something flows through a given cross section ( SI units: mL/s).
- In circulatory physiology, the word flow (e.g. of blood or lymph fluid) is commonly used as shorthand for regional flow, i.e., flow standardised to the volume or mass of a region of tissue under study (SI units: mL/s/mL or mL/s/g).
- Flow (psychology) is the feeling of complete and energized focus in an activity, with a high level of enjoyment and fulfillment as described by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.
- In hip hop and poetry, "flow" is used as a verb or noun and is described as the ability to start and maintain a verse of lyrics.
- In Skateboarding, "flow" describes the section of a skatepark which is meant to be ridden without pushing, usually consisting of banks, hills, funboxes, etc.
- In economics and accounting, a flow is the total value of sales or purchases in an accounting period, usually a quarter or a year.
- Flow (television) is a term used about how channels try to hold their audience by announcing the coming programs.
- Dataflow and workflow are terms used in computing.
- The notion of network flow is formalized in a branch of mathematics known as graph theory.

- Flow cytometry, abbreviated "flow", in certain laboratory applications, is a technique for counting, examining and sorting microscopic particles suspended in a stream of fluid
