Flushing is a village located in Belmont County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 900.

Flushing is located at 40°8'55" North, 81°3'55" West (40.148543, -81.065320)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 900 people, 380 households, and 250 families residing in the village. The population density was 579.2/km² (1,491.0/mi²). There were 434 housing units at an average density of 279.3/km² (719.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.56% White, 1.00% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 0.22% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 380 households out of which 25.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% were married couples living together, 11.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.2% were non-families. 30.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.93.

In the village the population was spread out with 20.6% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.2 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $26,875, and the median income for a family was $35,972. Males had a median income of $28,523 versus $17,768 for females. The per capita income for the village was $14,917. 17.4% of the population and 14.8% of families were below the poverty line. 29.3% of those under the age of 18 and 9.6% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
