Forrest is a village located in Livingston County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,225.

Geography

Forrest is located at 40°45'0" North, 88°24'36" West (40.750018, -88.409992)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 1,225 people, 470 households, and 344 families residing in the village. The population density was 750.8/km² (1,956.4/mi²). There were 504 housing units at an average density of 308.9/km² (804.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 96.33% White, 0.57% African American, 0.57% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.31% from other races, and 1.06% from two or more races. 2.69% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 470 households out of which 34.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.7% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.8% were non-families. 24.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.13.

In the village the population was spread out with 29.7% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.8 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $40,677, and the median income for a family was $45,938. Males had a median income of $37,868 versus $20,694 for females. The per capita income for the village was $17,707. 8.9% of the population and 5.8% of families were below the poverty line. 14.3% of those under the age of 18 and 3.0% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
