History

Template:Section-stub Future Publishing began with the publication of Amstrad Action magazine in 1985. To coincide with the launch of the TV series, Gamesmaster magazine was launched in the early 1990s, and still exists today, despite the long departure of the series.

In 2004, Future Publishing bought two UK computer magazines; Computer and Video Games magazine and PC Zone, from Dennis Publishing Ltd. for £2.5m. They did not make any changes to PC Zone, but they suspended Computer and Video Games magazine in its current form due to low sales, continuing the name for its website only. The company also launched into the children's market with new licensed magazines for the JETIX television channel, and the official Duel Masters magazine based on the popular trading card game.

In 2005 Future bought 38 titles from Highbury House, including Fast Car magazine, after a long running takeover saga. These titles include Fast Car, Fast Bikes, Home Cinema Choice and DJ Magazine amongst others.

In 2005 Future Publishing won the licence to publish Nintendo Official Magazine, taking over from Emap after much speculation.

The corporate motto is currently Media with Passion, and was previously Your Guarantee of Value.

The current managing director is Robert Price, who took over from Colin Morrison (formerly MD and COO) in 2004.
