Gemstone File
From Free net encyclopedia
The Gemstone File is a document often classified as a conspiracy theory.
First surfacing in the late 1960s in the San Francisco area, The Gemstone File is of uncertain authorship. The entire document is said to comprise over 1,000 pages.
The Gemstone File proposes that Aristotle Onassis, Joseph P. Kennedy, Howard Hughes and other prominent figures were involved in various schemes to forward a "global conspiracy of mindblowing proportions, involving the Mafia and corrupt politicians, brutal oil and drug cartels, rogue military operations, and more."
The Gemstone File was written by an American, Bruce Roberts (1919-1976). The entire document is of unknown length, probably over 1,000 pages. A complete copy is not known to exist, but over 400 pages from the original (handwritten) file are in existence and available.
The Gemstone File theory first emerged publicly in San Francisco, in March, 1975, in the form of a brief outline of many of its major points, entitled A Skeleton Key to the Gemstone File. This outline was written by Stephanie Caruana, a California journalist. Five books have since been written, based on the Skeleton Key, between 1976-1999. (One of these, The Opal File, links the Gemstone File with the politics of New Zealand.) A sixth book, The Gemstone File: A Memoir, by Stephanie Caruana, is now at the publisher's and is due to appear within 3 months.
