Gunrunning

Gunrunning is trafficking in (smuggling) contraband weapons and ammunition. Not surprisingly, it is most widespread in regions of political turmoil, but is by no means limited to such areas. The suppression of gunrunning is one of the areas of increasing interest in the context of international law. One example of this is the Larne Gun Running or Provisional IRA arms importation.
Gunrunning is portrayed in the movie Lord of War (2005), starring Nicholas Cage.
