It is home to the Hanwell Community centre, previously known as the London district school, which at one point taught Charlie Chaplin for a term. The community centre has also been used as a filming location for movies, including some scenes in Billy Elliot. Hanwell is also know for the Hanwell Viaduct designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Boston Manor park and Hanwell lock and the clock tower at the junction of the Uxbridge road and Boston Manor Road. Boston Manor was home to part of the Royal Family until the owner died, it is now a park and tourist attraction. However, technically Boston Manor is not in Hanwell.
