Haskell is a city located in Haskell County, Texas, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,106. It is the county seat of Haskell CountyTemplate:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.8 km² (3.4 mi²). 8.8 km² (3.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 3,106 people, 1,295 households, and 868 families residing in the city. The population density was 352.7/km² (912.8/mi²). There were 1,526 housing units at an average density of 173.3/km² (448.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 80.33% White, 3.90% African American, 0.55% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 12.46% from other races, and 2.67% from two or more races. 22.70% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 1,295 households out of which 29.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.8% were married couples living together, 10.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.9% were non-families. 31.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.91.
In the city the population was spread out with 25.2% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 22.5% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 25.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 83.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.7 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $20,740, and the median income for a family was $27,109. Males had a median income of $20,245 versus $15,391 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,114. 28.7% of the population and 21.5% of families were below the poverty line. 42.4% of those under the age of 18 and 18.1% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
