Himalayan states

Himalayan states is the name given collectively to all the countries/states which contain the mountain range of the Himalayas. Geographically, the Himalayan states lie in the Indian subcontinent.

This definition includes the following countries and regions:

• Nepal
• Bhutan
• Tibet (located in the People's Republic of China)
• The following states of the Republic of India:
  • Arunachal Pradesh
  • Nagaland
  • Tripura
  • Manipur
  • Meghalaya
  • Mizoram
  • Sikkim
  • Himachal Pradesh
  • Jammu and Kashmir
  • Uttaranchal
  • The Darjeeling district of West Bengal
• North Western Frontier Province (administrative province of Pakistan)
• The Kashmir disputed territory
  • Jammu (India)
  • Ladakh (India)
  • Kashmir Valley (India)
  • Siachen Glacier (India)
  • Trans-Karakoram Tract (PRC)
  • Aksai Chin (PRC)
  • Azad Kashmir (Pakistan)
  • Northern Areas (Pakistan)

Buddhism and Hinduism are the main religions in the Himalayan region.
