Hung Hom

It is located nearby to Tsim Sha Tsui. The north part of the area is mainly for residential purposes and is mixed with some industrial buildings. The south part is a residential area, nearby the Victoria Harbour. The Hung Hom Bay was reclaimed.

History

The proper Hung Hom is much smaller than present-day context. It is located on the shore of Hung Hom Bay, south of the valley Lo Lung Hang. Later a town was developed eastward parallel to Hong Kong Kowloon & Whampoa Dock.

Hung Hom is also the name of the KCR (Kowloon-Canton Railway) main station (terminal before) situated on the east side of the Kowloon Peninsula.

Whampoa Garden station of MTR Kwun Tong Line is proposed.

The Cross-Harbour Tunnel was the first tunnel in Hong Kong that was built under water. It connects Hong Kong Island and Kowloon at respectively Kellett Island (now connected to Hong Kong Island) and a reclaimed site at Hung Hom Bay.
