ihug is an ISP in Australia and New Zealand. ihug stands for Internet Home Users Group, even though the name is seldom used as an acronym for the above words. ihug is headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand.

ihug want the New Zealand Government to unbundle the local loop allowing them to give higher download and upload speeds to the New Zealand consumer, in a recent statement they said: "We've just rejected Telecom's latest wholesale offer of 3.5 Mb in favour of asking the Commerce Commission for speeds of up to 7.5 Mb because we've had an overwhelming response from Kiwis, telling us that 3.5 Mb is simply not good enough"

Auckland, 29 August 2005 – ihug has been voted as the top Internet service provider (ISP) of the year in the Telecommunications Users Associations of New Zealand (TUANZ) innovation awards for 2005.

ihug are New Zealand's 2nd Largest ADSL internet provider and have over 100,000 internet and phone subscribers In September 2003 ihug was sold to the Western Australian ISP iinet and now operates as its New Zealand subsidiary.
