The Self-Referencing I Ching : using the I Ching to describe itself

The following material is drawn from analysis of the binary sequence of the hexagrams where the hexagrams are derived from recursion of yin/yang and so showing a property of the method - the hexagrams are all linked together and contribute to the expression of, the description of, each hexagram.

  • The skeletal form of hexagram 61 is described by analogy to the under-exaggerated properties of hexagram 29 where we have a generic focus on issues of containment and control; in 61 there is a sense of a hard exterior within which is a soft interior and a source that can be yielding, sympathetic etc. There is an association with a judge being prepared to defend someone treated unjustly; consideration of the individual's story leads to a softening etc. and the judge attempts to influence the 'powers that be' to change the sentence etc.vi:Phong Trạch Trung Phu
