The International Institute for Management Development is a business school located in Lausanne, Switzerland.

IMD is a top-tier business school which was created through the merger of two Swiss management education centers: IMI in Geneva and IMEDE in Lausanne. Its main focus is open-enrollment and company-tailored executive education. It is regularly ranked among the best in the world for its executive education programs.

IMD also offers a highly selective, highly-demanding and small MBA program, which also ranks amongst the best in the world. 90 students are selected from around the world for the MBA program which focuses on team and group dynamics. As opposed to other top ranking business schools, IMD has chosen not to expand its program to over 90 students.

The IMD MBA program is run in a very disciplined almost military manner. Lateness is not accepted and can result in expulsion from the program. Class attendance is obligatory and strictly enforced.

Students are given an option to participate in pyschotherapy sessions. The therapists are chosen from all over Europe and are flown in to conduct the therapy sessions. Some of the therapists have been trained in Jungian pyschology. The therapists often observe students during group exercises and then conduct an obligatory session with the student regarding their behavior in the group. Students are also asked to rank other students after completing a group exercise. At certain times of the year the groups are filmed and students review the tapes sometimes discussing these with a therapist.

Students participate in an ICP (International Consulting Project) a two month consultancy project for an international company and students can be placed anywhere in the world for this project. Past companies that have participated in the program include Siemens and J.M. Huber Corporation.

The focus of the school, captured in its tagline-- Real World, Real Learning, is to stay close to real business issues. The faculty attend to real world business issues, and address these issues directly and practically in their research.

The campus is located Lausanne, Switzerland.
