Interocitor

From Free net encyclopedia

Image:Interocitor.jpg The interocitor is a multi-functional device featured in the 1955 science fiction film This Island Earth (and later, Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie which contained This Island Earth). In the film the device arrives in kit form as an intelligence test for scientists who might help an alien race.

An interocitor appeared in the "Weird Al" Yankovic video for Dare to be Stupid and in his movie UHF.

An interocitor can serve many purposes, the most common of which are:

  • Interocitor incorporating a planetary generator
  • Interocitor with volterator
  • Astroscope
  • Interocitor incorporating an electron sorter

It is common knowledge that there is no limit to what an interocitor can do. The difficulty in laying a four lane highway at the rate of a mile a minute is greatly mitigated using an interocitor. An interocitor incorporates greater advances than hitherto known in the field of electronics.

Assembly instructions are found in manual, namely Electronic Service, Unit #16 originally sourced from Supreme Equipment. While it is believed that the pages are made from some type of metal, the validity of this assertion is still in question.

Each of its 2486 parts are cross-indexed to a symbol pattern, and the actual directions for construction are inferred from blueprints using these symbols. It is important to remember that no interocitor part can be replaced which should be considered while assembling. Few persons have ever completed construction of an interocitor.

Here is a brief list of known interocitor parts:

  • XC Condensers
  • Bead Condenser (model #: AB-619)
  • Cathermin tube with inindium complex of +4.
  • Intensifier disk

Using an interocitor is quite simple. Once the interocitor has power (120V, 60Hz AC power), the intensifier disk is inserted into the control. Once properly seated, the control is then rotated 18 degrees counter-clockwise. If everything is correctly configured, the interocitor will make whirring noises while establishing a connection to another interocitor and activate the video monitor.

An interocitor cannot be photographed, cameras only pick up "black fog". Images on the interocitor don't register on film. It is not clear how any images of an interocitor exist.
