With Weezer
Cropper was the original guitarist for Weezer, and as such was present at the band's first practice on February 14, 1992. He recorded on the band's three demo tapes that were done previous to their signing to Geffen Records.
Yet in 1993, during the recording of Weezer (aka The Blue Album) Cropper left the band and was replaced by current guitarist Brian Bell.
Cropper has a writing credit on one of Weezer's most famous songs, "My Name is Jonas." He came up with the intro to the song.
Post-Weezer
In 1996, Cropper played guitar on Uncle Bob, an album from 22 Jacks, which featured members of Wax, Adolescents and Agent Orange. link
More notably, Cropper recorded and released one album with his band Chopper One on Restless Records, that featured his current wife, Amy. They also toured from '97-'98.
After parting ways with Restless Records, Chopper One broke up and Jason began a new project called Fliptop. This punk/pop super group featured Dallan Baumgarten on Guitar, Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, Guns N'Roses, Vandals, Devo) on drums and Scott Shiflett (Face to Face, Jackson United) on bass. Although a full-length album was recorded, only five of the fourteen tracks were mixed down (for demo purposes). Unfortunately, scheduling turmoil caused disbanding and the album was never released. link
He also wrote and performed the theme song for the short-lived Fox sitcom, "Andy Richter Controls the Universe".

Cropper on Leaving Weezer
The interview of Olivier FLAGEUL have shown that Cropper had no regret in leaving the band, even before they became rock superstars. When asked if he ever would want to return to the band Cropper replied: "No, because they paid me for what I did on that record just like if I was in the band, and on top of that, I didn't have to hang out with those guys anymore and we weren't really friends anymore when I left the band. So it was like I could stay and be with a bunch of guys that I hated or go out on my own and do my own thing and still make the money. So I don't regret it at all; I mean, maybe a little bit in that I could have, you know, been a bigger rock star or something, but, you know, I got to be with my family. I have a 5 year old daughter with my wife Amy who sings and co-writes with me in Chopper One and I don't regret missing out on Weezer stuff because it was always very difficult to work with those guys; they're very particular. It was very stressful and I was glad when it was over; it was a relief."
