Jerry Sheindlin

Judge Gerald (Jerry) Sheindlin born 1934 was a judge on The People's Court from 1999 to 2001. Before serving as a television jurist, Judge Sheindlin was a sitting judge on the New York State Supreme Court.

He was a New York judge, first in Criminal Court, later on the Supreme Court, from 1982-1999. He presided over more than 100 homicide trials, many invoving DNA evidence. He is the author of two published books, "Genetic Fingerprinting: The Law and Science of DNA Evidence" and "Blood Trail". He is the husband of Judith Sheindlin, who is currently seen on her own courtroom television program, Judge Judy. Judge Jerry Sheindlin has two sons and a daughter; and Judy has 2 children, making a total of 5 children (3 are lawyers and 1 is a surgeon), and 11 grandchildren for the pair.
