Jewel Staite

Jewel Belair Staite (born June 2, 1982) is a Canadian actress. She was born in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada.
Modelling as a child and acting since age 6, Staite attended the Vancouver Film School and worked at the Vancouver Youth Theatre.
Staite is best known for her role as Kaylee Frye in the short-lived sci-fi/Western television series Firefly (2002) and its subsequent 2005 film, Serenity.
Other television work includes:

- Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show (1997)
- Da Vinci's Inquest (1998)
- Higher Ground (2000).
She has also been a guest star on Are You Afraid of the Dark?, The X-Files, Just Deal, Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me, Seven Days, and Stargate Atlantis.

Personal life
Staite has worked with the Dyslexia Foundation and several AIDS charities.
She married Matt Anderson on April 25, 2003.
