Jhiaxus

From Free net encyclopedia

Jhiaxus (pronounced gee-axe-us) was a Cybertronian leader (or more appropriately, warlord) in the Marvel Comics's Transformers: Generation 2 comic. He held the rank Liege Centuro.

He had a cold, callous personality - a big departure from Megatron's zeal and Galvatron's insanity. In one notable occurrence, Jhiaxus destroyed San Francisco, just to annoy Optimus Prime. His biggest weakness was his tendency to go insane.

Biography

Jhiaxus is the only character in the Transformers universe who was demonstrated as being a comparable combatant to either Optimus Prime, or Megatron. Jhiaxus and Optimus Prime met in combat on several occasions throughout the short series. Though most notable was a battle in Episode III. In this fight Optimus Prime went toe to toe with Jhiaxus, but the battle ended in a draw. He then evaded Jhiaxus until the Decepticon's madness allowed Prime to speak his piece. The two forces of Autobot and Decepticon had apparently been driven into a combative frenzy by an organism in the region that fed on their violent feelings.

Optimus Prime realized that the Autobots alone were incapable of defeating Jhiaxus and his Decepticons alone. Therefore Prime made an attempt to form an alliance with Megatron. Megatron however did not listen, and took advantage of Prime who was alone. After a short battle Megatron managed to tear Prime's chest plate off and harness the power of the Matrix to bring life to his new army. Prime was rescued by Grimlock leading an Autbot force. However Prime refused to allow the Autbots to use the Matrix in an attempt to halt Megatron's growing power. Instead he waited for Megatron to come into conflict with Jhaixus.

In response to Megatron's actions, Jhiaxus lead an assault on the Warworld which served as Megatron's flagship. The battle resulted in an indiscriminant slaughter, with Megatron's forces being decimated. In an attempt to turn the tide of the battle, and prove himself the true Decepticon leader he challenged Jhiaxus to a duel.

The duel between Megatron and Jhiaxus proved to be little different from the battle raging around them. Jhiaxus quickly gained the upperhand, and decimated Megatron. Knocking him off of the Warworld Jhiaxus tranformed, and attacked with his duel plasma cannons. The attack nearly killed Megatron and stripped most of his body down to the skeletal structure. Megatron then landed on a nearby planet, realizing for himself that he must ally with Optimus Prime and the Autobots to survive.

Over the course of the ensuing war, Jhiaxus' greatest enemy proved to be his personal demons. As his insantiy made him unable to deal with unexpected setbacks, thus greatly limiting his effectiveness as a leader. In the end it was to be his rage that destroyed him.

After learning of the existence of the swarm, Optimus Prime attempted to reach out to Jhiaxus. The latter however had now lost all grip on his sanity, due to his defeats in the war. Attacking Optimus Prime, Jhiaxus quickly gained the upperhand over the Autbot commander. (His first blow shattered Optimus Prime's faceplate and destroyed his vocal systems) Though before Jhiaxus could finish the battle, The Swarm arrived. Driven by his rage, Jhiaxus challenged the swarm itself. Being a foe that could not be combated through ordinary means, Jhiaxus was unable to harm the Swarm. Which in turn consumed and destroyed him )after making a larger then life image of Jhiaxus' own face) as it had so many others. Thus Jhiaxus perished in a fit of anger and rage, driven home by his insanity.

Unlike most of the notable Transformer characters in the Transformers comics, Jhiaxus is not based on a toy, but was instead completely invented by Marvel. The name "Jhiaxus" is a pun on the words "gee, axe us", anticipating the short life of the Generation 2 comic, which proved to be correct.

Near the end of the toyline's life, the name Jhiaxus was used for an orange repaint of the Beast Machines jet Jetstorm.

Although he had no tech specs or backgound information, he was finally given a bio in one of the Transformers collectors club magazies, where it was revealed he was indeed the same character as the Generation 2 Jhiaxus. Template:Transformers-stub
