Jive Records

From Free net encyclopedia

Image:Jive.jpg Jive Records is an American record label that specializes in producing and releasing pop and hip hop music. It is a sub-label of Zomba Records. Jive initially was used as an outlet for artists and groups who didn't fit with its parent label, Arista Records until 1987. This was primarily due to Jive's signing of more controversall rappers such as Too Short and Schooly D. Clive Davis, head of Arista Records, at the time was known to be opposed to Rap. 1987 to 1990, RCA Records marketed Jive Records. Jive became a sole entity in 1991, free from a parent label. In 2003, So So Def, Jive Records and LaFace Records were absorbed into the Zomba Music Group, which is now part of Sony BMG Music.
