Joshua Homme

He was a founding member of desert rock band Kyuss, which split up in 1997, and is the only continuous member of robot rock/alternative band, Queens of the Stone Age. He also continues to produce and release a musical improv series with other musicians known as The Desert Sessions.

Homme has also played guitar for the Screaming Trees and Mark Lanegan (who later joined Queens of the Stone Age). Other acts in which Homme has been linked to and/or been a member of include, but aren't limited to, Mondo Generator, Eagles of Death Metal, Foo Fighters, PJ Harvey, Fatso Jetson, Like Hell, Mark Lanegan Band, Masters of Reality, Millionaire, Wellwater Conspiracy, U.N.K.L.E., Melissa Auf Der Maur, Paz Lenchantin, A Perfect Circle, and Local H.

Homme, along with friend and QOTSA contributor/producer Chris Goss performed as the 5:15ers at the inaugural ArthurBall (an offshoot of the ArthurFest festival) in Los Angeles on February 26 2006[1]. The two were credited homophonously as The Fiffiff Teeners when they co-produced QOTSA's second album Rated R.

Homme has been engaged to The Distillers frontwoman Brody Dalle since January 2005. They had a daughter, Camille, in January 2006.

Trivia

  • Homme also plays bass guitar, as when Queens of the Stone Age performs "Burn the Witch" and "Long Slow Goodbye". He also covered bass on every track on QOTSA's debut album except for "Give the Mule What He Wants".
  • Also plays the drums with The Eagles of Death Metal and has played drums on The Desert Sessions and on some Queens tracks.
  • His tattoos on his hands represent the initials of his grandparents.
  • Homme played a guitar part on the Foo Fighters's song "Razor", from the album In Your Honor.
  • Homme is notably secretive about his guitar equipment, choosing to either change the subject or even lie when asked about his setup in interviews.
  • He was featured on Killer Queen: A Tribute to Queen, in the song Stone Cold Crazy
  • His surname is french and means "man".
