Junction is a city located in Kimble County, Texas (USA). As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,618. It is the county seat of Kimble CountyTemplate:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.9 km² (2.3 mi²). 5.9 km² (2.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.44% is water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 2,618 people, 1,028 households, and 699 families residing in the city. The population density was 441.4/km² (1,145.0/mi²). There were 1,222 housing units at an average density of 206.0/km² (534.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 86.13% White, 0.04% African American, 0.38% Native American, 0.69% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 11.12% from other races, and 1.64% from two or more races. 28.99% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 1,028 households out of which 35.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.3% were married couples living together, 12.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.0% were non-families. 29.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 3.11.
In the city the population was spread out with 28.2% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 22.0% from 45 to 64, and 18.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 85.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.4 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $25,833, and the median income for a family was $30,865. Males had a median income of $24,096 versus $18,750 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,971. 21.7% of the population and 16.4% of families were below the poverty line. 30.9% of those under the age of 18 and 16.8% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
Education
Junction is home to the Texas Tech University Center at Junction, a satellite school of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
Fun
The city park is open for free camping and sits along the South Fork of the Llano River. It is also home to a great many cats due to the constant availability of food.
