Biography
Kate Pierson (born 27 April, 1948, in Weehawken, New Jersey) is one of the lead singers and founding members of The B-52's. She also plays keyboard and guitar for the band. She is renknown for having a powerful singing voice that conveys emotion well. In The B-52's she sings alongside Cindy Wilson and Fred Schneider. Cindy contributed more of the gentle harmonies, while Kate gave the songs energy and powerful feeling.
With The B-52's, she played in Athens, Georgia and the club scene in New York City in the late 1970's at approximately the same time as bands such as the Indigo Girls and R.E.M.. The B-52's continue to perform live to this day.
In 2004 Pierson opened Kate's Lazy Meadow Motel in Mount Tremper, New York. Located near the Catskills in upstate New York and close to historic Woodstock. Lazy Meadow is a retreat in the wilderness seated on nine acres along the beautiful Esopus Creek. The decor is rustic modern and includes 5 vintage Airstreams.
Her first job was as a nurse's aide in a nursing home. Her second job was as a waitress at the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington.

- The Ramones in the early 1980's on the song "Chop Suey" with Cindy Wilson and Debbie Harry.
- Iggy Pop on the 1990 song "Candy".
- R.E.M. on the 1991 song Shiny Happy People.
- Matthew Sweet on the 1993 album "Earth".
- She is also a member of the Japanese supergroup NiNa with Yuki Isoya.
