Kenneth Copeland

Kenneth Copeland (born December 6, 1936 in Lubbock, Texas) is an American (neo-pentecostal) Word of Faith teacher, preacher, singer, televangelist, actor and author. He can be considered to be a part of the Charismatic movement.

Kenneth Copeland claimed to be a successful pop singer before turning his life over to ministry work following his conversion on November 2, 1962. In the 1960s, he was a pilot for faith healer Oral Roberts. Copeland attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but never graduated. Later he studied under another Pentecostal evangelist, Kenneth E. Hagin. His ministry grew through the 1970s, and in 1979, "Believer's Voice of Victory" first appeared on the airwaves.

Kenneth Copelands teachings are considered by many in mainstream Christianity to be highly controversial, and he has given a number of very public prophecies, that later turned out to be false, claiming 1 billion Muslims would be converted in short period of time to Christianity:

I'm telling you Satan's fat is in the fire he pushed it over the line, and God has moved, and for over a hundred years the United States has been an instrument of judgment in the hand of God. That's one of the reasons we're blessed, amen? I'd like to get in there and walk around a while but I don't have the time but I can tell you this, that thing has come to an end, its over, I'm talking about Islam and every, all that that stands for. That's over with. Now, God is making His move."

Kenneth Copeland Ministries has its headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. For a quarter of a century Copeland has been holding annual week-long "Believers' Conventions" both California, California and Fort Worth. In the last few years, his regular preaching partners at these events have been Creflo A. Dollar, Jesse Duplantis, and Jerry Savelle, along with his wife Gloria.
