From Free net encyclopedia

Kerry Scott Conran (born November 6, 1964 in Flint, Michigan) is an American filmmaker.

He attended the California Institute of Arts. He is the screenwriter and director of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and invented the design technology behind it. The film grew out of a six-minute demonstration reel he created on his computer which caught the attention of Hollywood film producer Jon Avnet, who was able to get the movie produced for Paramount Pictures. His brother, Kevin Conran, served as the production designer and costume designer on the movie, which was filmed entirely against bluescreen and takes place in a highly stylized version of the 1930s that was created entirely through computer generated imagery.

For a time Kerry was slated to direct the film adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel, John Carter of Mars. He was later replaced by filmmaker Jon Favreau. The film is currently in pre-production.
