Korbut Flip

From Free net encyclopedia

The Korbut Flip is a gymnastics move created by Soviet gymnast Olga Korbut. The gymnast stands on the high bar of the uneven bars, performs a back flip and catches the bar again. When it was first performed at the 1972 Olympics it was the first backwards release move ever attempted on the uneven bars.

The Korbut Flip is no longer performed in gymnastics competition because it involves standing on the high bar, a manoeuvre which is now illegal in the Code of Points.
