Lands of Denmark

Image:Administrative division of denmark in medieval times.jpgFrom its unification and consolidation in the 9th century, the Kingdom of Denmark was historically composed of three distinct "lands":

• Scania (Skåneland) on the Scandinavian peninsula
• Zealand (Sjælland) and other islands in the Danish Straits
• the Jutland (Jylland) peninsula
